How did I get this life ... creation or circumstance?
57The Golden Thread
It took me a long time to come to the understanding of the relevance to my life of circumstance and creation. For many years I saw myself as the victim of life and circumstances; that I had no power over the events of my life.
This changed suddenly when I had a vision in one of my meditations. I saw my life, I saw the circumstances and I saw how one event led to another. I call it the golden thread. Because that's how it showed itself in the meditation.
I have not talked about this to many people, but I am wondering if you have ever had similar thoughts or a similar experience of seeing your life and the connectivity?
Since working in the field of personal development I am often confronted with questions such as:
What is the purpose of my life?
How do I know what my purpose or purposes are?
What can I do to accomplish these purposes?
What explanation is there for my life being the way it is?
These questions crop up more and more often. Stop for a moment and consider these questions.
When considering this let's not just contemplate the hardships, the difficulties, the failures. Let's also look at the successes, the joys, the victories. The whole thing.
What is your attitude to this?
Is it karma? Is it because some power sits somewhere and passes judgement once a day, once a week, one a month, once a year? Is it fate - something you don't have any control over?
If you feel any of the above, you and I are talking the same language. But so many of us are under the influence of the mostly read book of all times - the bible.
I will use a quote that may be the solution to much of this. Actually I will give you the general translation which is a mistranslation, and also the real meaning.
Mistranslation: Let us make man in our image
Real translation: Let us create mankind in our image
Do you see the subtle difference - make/create. Also from singular (god) to plural (we).
We create in our own image. Our image comes from the inside. We see our reality from the inside, not as reality is but the way we see.
We create whatever we want in our lives, whatever success, failure, joy, sadness. Whatever we want comes from the inside to the outside. We are at one and the same time the creator of the product and the product.
Whatever we created in our lives up till now is a result of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, emotions and behaviors. We can recognize this to be the great creative force, or we can play victims. It up to each and every one of us to make that choice.
If we want something different in our lives all we have to do is change one or more of the above.
An Invitation
There is so much more to this - on changing paradigms. I co-host the online OurLighthouseCafe - a meeting place for learning, sharing, asking questions, whatever you can think of. Only one thing that we can't do yet - serve coffee or any other beverage. You have to bring that yourself.

Hi Birtie,
I really enjoyed this hub and hope you continue to make more like it. For years I always played the victim in my life, until a few years ago when I went to a popular christian college. I starting study many different religions as assignments for my papers. I can't tell you the exact day it happened but I discovered that everything I was living was everything I was thinking.
It is amazing how words and thoughts completely control our environment. Ever since then, I have been practicing trying to control my thoughts and words, knowing that I have the power to change my life. This is an excellent hub. I love creating my destiny instead of letting destiny control me.
"We see our reality from the inside, not as reality is but the way we see." I love how you put this. This is why everyone's reality is different. I can't wait to read more!

Compelling topic and this concept is worth putting some thought into.
