A Call for Help

The Call by Ryan Hupfer

When I got Ryan Hupfer's mail, where he announced the 30 day challenge, I was challenged.

I love writing, but I cannot devote all my time to writing for hubpages. I write other places and I am also involved in other activities not related to writing. In the short time I am with hubpages I have never posted on a daily basis. So truly it would be a challenge to join the challenge.

After a few moments' hesitation and consideration, I decided to take up the challenge. What the heck, this could be fun. I took the 30 article challenge, as I knew in advance that the 100 articles in 30 days was way beyond my capability at present.

Double Challenge

Little did I realize that the challenge would be a double challenge. Now I have a wonderful fan club, and I have joined the fan club of quite a few other hubbers. I joined them, because I loved what they were writing about. I found their choice of subjects interesting and informative. I had chosen fan clubs based on the quality of their writing.

Even before the challenge, I made it a habit to read as many hubs as possible, written by the people whose clubs I had joined. I would also normally write a comment, sometimes one liner, often longer. In a few cases I felt the need to answer a hub with a hub.

The double challenge is that many of the hubbers whose fan club I joined, have also joined the 30 day challenge. So where before I was reading through 10-30 hubs per day, this number has now grown to unbelievable proportions. There is absolutely no way I will have the time to read through so many, and leave comments.

Friends

To My Friends

My Friends, and you truly are becoming my friends, what to do?

I want to keep writing, and I will keep writing and posting my daily hub as part of the challenge. But I have many other things to do in my day, apart from being stuck on hub and reading, reading and commenting and commenting.

How do you handle this?
Because I know many of you read my hubs, and leave me great comments. I want to honor your efforts by reading your hubs and leaving quality comments.

By reading the hubs we are creating more traffic to the hubs. By reading and commenting on the hubs we are generating more activity, something the search engines love. By reading and commenting we are supporting each other.

So please help me sort out this double challenge.

Many of us have taken the challenge and it will be difficult to keep up with all of the aritcles. We'll just have to do the best that we can. We're all in the same boat so I'm sure everyone will understand if we don't get to every article.

Good for you for taking the challenge! And, with this provocatively named hub, you have attracted a new fan (me). I knew I couldn't commit to 30 in 30, but have tremendous respect for those who have! Good luck. MM

I too have felt a little overwhelmed by the number of hubpage editor emails I've been getting. I will also try to read as many as I can, but like you my days are filled with other things, and that is why I choose not to take the challenge, though I really wanted too. Thanks for this hub, I think it relfects what most of us are feeling.

Pete, Mighty Mom, lafenty - thanks for the feedback. I figured that's what I had to do, go easy on the reading and commenting.

Hi BriteEdwards, the same thing happended to me. I've been trying to catch up all the new hubs from my fan club! It's not an easy task really. Every hubber is doing his/her best to come up with a great hub, so the least thing to do is to appreciate and read this hub. On the other hand, as one of your fans, I excuse you if you can't read my hubs bcz you entered this challenge so, hang on there and go ahead :)

So cool to see how many of us entered the challenge. This is truly going to be fun.

I am so happy I wrote this hub, communicating with you all, seeing that you have the same issue. So to anyone reading this, my apologies if I don't get to comment on your hubs as much as I usually do.

I also decided to try for 30 new hubs in 30 days. Probably crazy but I thought that I would try. How I am handling it is that I am only going to read hubs of the people who leave comments on my new hubs, period. Skipping the rest. So far that is manageable.

I decided not to join the challenge, mostly because I'm going to have to make several 600 mile trips over the next month. My husbands mother is failing and I'm getting involved in a project to teach young girls how to make their own patterns and sew their own clothes. I barely have time to keep up with myself this month, much less everything that everyone else is writing!

Good luck with the 30/30 challenge!

Peggy - challenges can be fun, it's a challenge - not a commitment. I like your approach on who to read or leave comment with.

Silver Freak - with all that going on in your life, I would also not join a challenge of any kind. I think what you've got going in enough of a challenge in itself

Yeah, have been finding it virtually impossible to read the new hubs!

Through this hub and the comments I have learned a lot, and come to some realizations.

I read one hub per day of those who were challenged to 100/30. I skim over the head lines of all, and if it catches my eye and interest I will read, not necessarity comment

I foresaw this problem and know my limits as I am pressed to do one hub a week for hubmobs but I will cheer all you "challenged people" as far as I can by reading and commenting as much as I can.

Good luck
